My story as a photographer...

I am Mike Morash. I live in a small rural community outside of Ottawa, Canada. I live there with my wife Robin and our dog Lily.

Several years ago I retired from a thirty-five-year career employed by several local technology companies serving in various technical and business roles. During that time, I had the good fortune to visit many countries across 6 continents. Over those years I developed a passion for photography and off-the-beaten-track travel. My travels allowed me to explore many genres of photography.

With more time on my hands, I continue planning off-the-beaten-track adventures traveling the world focusing on experiencing and photographing diverse world cultures, textured landscapes, and exotic and endangered species.

I am a firm believer in the age-old adage "practice makes perfect". I continue to hone my skills; engaging and analyzing other photographers' works and experimenting with my own to produce thoughtful compositions and meaningful images. Needless to say based on the many thousands of images I have taken to date I have yet to take my best photograph ever. I continue to focus on fundamentals, am not afraid to explore and try different techniques and refine and tune my overall approach to support my efforts to produce compelling, meaningful images.

“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
